6th World Congress 2021
We would like to warmly welcome you to the website of the 6th world congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS2021). On this website you will find all information necessary to attend the congress that will take place 15 – 19 November 2021 in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
Maastricht is at the center of a fervid European region in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, encompassing more than 4 centers of excellence, including Prometheus at KU Leuven, GIGA, at the University of Liege, the Center for Biohybrid Medical Systems at RWTH Aachen, and the MERLN Institute at Maastricht University. The close vicinity with different incubator campuses allows these centers to also have the required support to translate research to the clinic through the market.
The general theme of the congress is “Biologically inspired technology driven regenerative medicine”, which is fully reflected in the 9 parallel thematic sessions to which you can submit abstracts for oral and poster presentation. The congress program also consists of a number of special sessions, including national societies sessions, SYIS sessions, industrial sessions, clinical sessions, European Project sessions, lunch workshops, and our usual business plan competition.
The congress equally foresees ample opportunities for networking, including a social dinner, and a SYIS networking evening for young members.
The vibrant city of Maastricht offers the ideal setting for socializing with your colleagues while enjoying the exciting scientific program. The oldest city in the Netherlands, settled around the 50 B.C., Maastricht is the second city for number of National monuments after Amsterdam. Rests of the Roman walls pervade the city. Maastricht is also famous for being the city where the European Community treaty (the Maastricht treaty) has been signed, which can be visited at the Government palace. The historical neighboring city of Aachen is famous for its cathedral, which houses the remains of Charlemagne, and the RWTH Aachen University, the world’s largest engineering school. Right across the border with Belgium, in Liège, you can visit the award-winning moder train station and a bit further north, you can visit Leuven, the oldest university city in the Low Countries (Est 1425) and home to the world’s largest brewery company. Maastricht is at the heart of Europe, from which Brussels can be reach in 1.5 hours, Amsterdam in 2 hours, Paris in 2 hours and half, and London in 3 hours.
